One Musician's Website
A beacon, an outlet, a reflection
String Tweaker is a site devoted to guitar playing, musical thought, and the development of each. Through on demand guitar transcriptions, you can see exactly how a particular, specific guitar part is played. By picking and choosing which parts you learn, you will be developing your own sound and style. As you learn the guitar parts of your interest, you will be adding many different phrasings and stylings from other artists to your own repitoire. You will see the actual elements as they are played that constitute the sounds you are interested in. This is a great way to develop your own style and sound as over time, you will learn to play and create the sounds that reflect your interests and feelings - the sum of which uniquely identify you as an individual.
I remember back when I was a kid taking guitar lessons, one of my favorite parts of each lesson was when my teacher would set aside 10 minutes to transcribe a song that I brought in. I would look forward to that part of the lesson all week, and I'm certain that those experiences contributed greatly to my development as a player. One time, I brought in Andres Segovia's performance of the Lute Prelude in C Minor. My teacher transcribed it right there in front of me - It was awesome. I hope to be able to share with others that kind of experience through this website.
Aside from on demand guitar transcriptions, string tweaker will chronicle my journey into computer based recording. I just recently started recording again, but this time utilizing the advances in computer based digital audio workstations. I'll be posting my techniques and results on this site.
Finally, since I've done a bit of website development lately, I'm sharing my band website template. If you are computer savy, and thinking about creating a website for your band, you really should check out my example website for LAMP platforms. It could save you tons of time.
